Checking in with Your Body
When your body feels good, you have more energy. It’s a pretty simple equation. Having a body requires investment. Spending money on tools, equipment & treats all supports your physical energy.
Think of your body as your friend. Give it what it needs to function well and you will benefit! Noticing what your body needs takes some effort. You need to connect to how your body is feeling. Take time to check in, to listen to the messages and wisdom that your body is holding.
What to Do When Your Energy Falls
Like many of you, I have had loads of times in my life when my energy has plummeted. When the life force carpet has been whipped out from under me and I find my arse bang on the floor with no energy at all.
This week, I got the flu. If I am honest, I was being a little smug about the fact I had avoided it and then walloped. Down I went. Down but not for long!
Here are my tips for getting, guarding, and giving energy when you are unwell.
Being Comfortable with Discomfort
I once had a woman at one of Repotted Retreats who admitted she had no interest in dealing with her feelings. She knew that she had a backlog of feelings backed up inside her and she wanted to ‘get them out’. She was asking if there was a way she could ‘move them’. “I know that they are there and I want them to go away.” She said very matter of factly! I suggested that she take some time to deal with them to acknowledge and process. “I don’t really want to,” she said. “I would rather they just went away!” I loved her honesty. I shared a quote from an excellent movie “The Fault in Our Stars” -
“Pain demands to be felt.”
The People in Your World
I love people. I have a lot of people in my world and I spend a lot of time trying to understand what makes them tick and what they need and want. Good people are like gold, they can make your day and often add a huge amount of value to your life.
We all have challenging people in our lives - often they are 'people that come free with your life' - not people you have 'chosen' but more of people who have turned up. They might be family, neighbours, co-workers or inlaws. I am a huge fan of having a people audit. Regularly identifying the people who contribute and contaminate your life is an exercise worth doing.
The Power of Positive People
In this fast-paced world, the essence of surrounding yourself with positive people is more than just a feel-good mantra—it's a strategic choice that can elevate both your personal and professional life.
The energy you get, guard, and give is essential if you want to live a fulfilling life. Positive people are catalysts of good energy, they can add huge value to your world and be a powerful force in your life.
Learn, Grow and Let Go!
Our energy is constantly changing. One of the challenges at this time of year is stagnant energy. Old energy that is hanging around.
Winter is a time when we can be less active, less social and less interested in getting out and about. It's the perfect time to learn, grow and let grow!
Feeling Drained?
Since writing my Energy book, I have noticed something. Everyone is putting so much of their effort into their physical energy and yet they are still feeling exhausted and drained.
The biggest challenge for most people is not physical energy alone; it's about the emotional, mental, and spiritual energy that keeps us thriving, creating, and living our best lives.
