Learn, Grow and Let Go!

Our energy is constantly changing. One of the challenges at this time of year is stagnant energy. Old energy that is hanging around.

Winter is a time when we can be less active, less social and less interested in getting out and about. It's the perfect time to learn, grow and let go!

What are you learning?

I have taken up knitting and am really enjoying it! I love chunky, soft and fun yarn that grows quickly and feels amazing. Creating something original and new for me to wear is one of my favourite things to do. I had believed old stories about me and knitting - old stories that I have decided to change!

As someone who has certificates in starting new hobbies, was born inconsistent and gets bored very easily, I have in the past been unable to complete my beginner's knitting projects! This time, I have a partner in crime - an A-grade knitting friend who is checking in on my progress and encouraging me daily. The extra energy this gives me is amazing and now I need to complete this project - if not for me but to show Joan that I am good for it!

It is so good for our brains to do new things. To concentrate on tricky things. It’s good for our confidence to witness ourselves overcome old stories.

What’s growing?

Growth is something I am obsessed with. Carol Dweck’s book, “Mindset”, is a game-changer for developing a love of learning and the resilience that is essential for great accomplishments.

“People with a fixed mindset - those who believe that abilities are fixed
are less likely to flourish than those with a growth mindset - those who
believe that abilities can be developed.” Carol Dweck

I believe that all humans should be constantly growing. Growing a new ability, growing new thinking, growing new ideas. Our growth comes from having the confidence to step into something new. To believe that something else is possible. Learning new things is incredibly energising. Whether it is a new habit for a new craft project - think about something new that you could bring into your world.

Letting go.

New cannot happen without letting go of the old. This time of year is a wonderful visual reminder of letting go. The leaves have fallen off the trees. I love the themes of seasons. There are times when we need to let go of the old. When we need to start again. To recreate. When we let go of old things, we create space. More space for new things, for new people and new experiences. Make a list of everything and everyone in your life and put a line through those that you could do without. What would you love to get rid of if you had a magic wand?

Letting go of old beliefs, old ideas, and old habits is as uplifting as letting go of old stuff, old clothes that you no longer wear and old stuff that is no longer useful. Using this time of year to let go of what is no longer serving you is perfect. Get ready for spring by maximising winter!

LISA LOVES:

Drinking Cacao is one of my favourite mid winter tips. The perfect pick me up for mid-afternoon. Cacao is loaded with antioxidants, is a source of iron, and is loaded with magnesium and calcium. It is a great source of bliss chemicals – serotonin, tryptophan, tyrosine and phenylethylamine. Giving you cosy feelings of happiness, comfort and wellbeing.

I mix mine with a tiny bit of water and then pour warm almond milk over the top!
