My Life as a Movie

I have always thought of my life as a movie.

Different phases, different times, different movies. I find it useful. I believe that I am an actor working through the scenes that I have been given. Often I do not know how the scene will end, I am not the director. I am the actor, whose role is to do the best job I can with the people, the scenes and the costumes that I am given!

I have been the lead role in a romantic comedy, marrying my childhood sweetheart. I have been a supporting actress in a movie about a family learning to juggle three children with life-threatening medical conditions. I have been the lead in a movie about a woman wanting to change her life and live according to her purpose.

I am a big fan of people living on purpose. Living on purpose means that you are in charge. You are the lead. You know your role and what you are trying to achieve. I also believe that you cannot be in charge of everything - I like to think of God as my movie director. God, The Universe, A Higher Power - whatever you choose to believe in. Believing in a power bigger than yourself allows you to tap into unlimited energy & power of consciousness.

It allows you to do and be and have what you want but to feel supported. To feel held and part of something much bigger than you. Like being a wave in the ocean. You do your own thing, you can be as big or as small as you wish but you are part of something much bigger.

Trusting in something bigger than you allows you to believe that there is a reason you have been given your role. It is your job to do the best you can with what you have. When that role is complete your next role will be presented to you.

At really difficult times, pretending I have a documentary crew following me around and recording my every word has been useful to help me stay professional and in my zone!

What is your current movie about?
Are you doing a great job in your role?
Are you sick of the storyline and need to make some changes?

I spend a lot of time thinking about the role I am in, how I can maximise it. I think about who can help me with the challenges in my role and what I need to do the best job I can. Maximising my life, collecting experiences and constantly learning is why I think  I am here. Wandering around without a purpose feels like a waste of a precious life to me!

What is a role that you would love to play?
What role have you always wanted?
What would your dream role look like, act like and feel like?

Living fully is your job. It’s why you are here.
