Emergency Energy
The past couple of weeks have been huge!
I have had to pull out all my emergency energy strategies!
Aromatherapy
My favourite Stress Less Oil is always in my handbag. It helps me sleep - it stops me from slapping awful taxi drivers, it slows down my heart rate and makes my breathing better!
Body Wrapping
If I feel overwhelmed, nothing makes me feel safer than wrapping myself in a blanket or large scarf. I have gorgeous cashmere ones and soft linen and muslin for warmer days. Being 'swaddled' as an adult is as comforting as being wrapped as a baby! It slows everything down and allows you a few minutes of feeling safe and cared for. Weighted blankets are also amazing. Stimulating the feeling of being hugged, I highly recommend having one available for tough weeks!
Staying Hydrated
Hydration is crucial for many reasons. It regulates your body temperature, delivers nutrients to the cells, keeps your organs functioning well and promotes good sleep. I find I can be stressed and tired but not if I am dehydrated. Water also regulates your emotions and is my go-to if I am feeling emotional or overwhelmed.
Active Rest
Active or "constructive rest" is a wonderful way to quickly release excess tension from your body. Known as The Alexander Technique - here is how:
Lie on a firm surface. Your knees should be elevated relative to your hips. You need to have some support under your head. (I use a low-folded blanket). Actress Juliette Binoche has described it as “a way to transform stress to joy.”
I hope these tips help if you need to reset your energy- I’d love to hear your best energy recovery strategies!
