Energy Reset

This week, I have been running my Repotted Retreat in the gorgeous Coromandel. Repotted is an energy reset - 3 days where women get to shift their mental, physical, emotional and spiritual energy.

Mentally, we unpack all of the weight that we carry around in our heads. The exhaustion, the overthinking, the responsibility and the fatigue that comes from supporting loads of people in the multiple roles we hold.

Physically, it's a break. It takes us away from our lives. We get nourished - fed amazing food. Vegetarian, brightly coloured home-cooked food grown with love on the land where we stay. We walk in organic native bush, we stretch out on the floor and lie around in blankets.

Emotionally, we get supported. We get witnessed and are seen. We sit and share stories that help us to unpack how we feel and how we can take back our power. We decide what we are going to do and not do going forward. We connect with old feelings and feel safe to feel them.

Spiritually, we get some space to connect to ourselves. Some space to ponder, to ask ourselves some big questions and get some clarity about why and what we believe. We talk and explore topics - being curious about the beliefs that serve us and how to make sense of life's big questions.

The magic of watching women unravel and relax over three days is incredible. They arrive looking tired and drawn, often wearing what I call their "control face" - that slightly pinched expression that comes from trying to manage everything and everyone in their worlds.

By day two, their shoulders have dropped, their faces have softened, and they're starting to remember who they are underneath all the roles and responsibilities they carry. It's like watching flowers bloom in time-lapse photography!

One of my favourite moments is when someone realizes they don't have to keep doing all the things they've been doing. That "aha moment" when they understand they can choose differently, that they have permission to put themselves first - it's absolutely priceless.

We laugh a lot! There's something wonderful about being with other women who "get it." Who understand the mental load we carry, the constant juggle, and the pressure we put on ourselves to be everything to everyone.

Creating Your Own Energy Reset at Home

While there's something magical about being whisked away to a retreat, I'm a huge believer in creating daily practices that support your energy. Here are some of my favourite ways to reset when you can't escape to the Coromandel!

Create a 'Rest Nest'. Set up a dedicated space with blankets, cushions and bolsters where you can flop into supported rest. Even 20 minutes in a rest nest can feel like hours of sleep! Don't have a fancy setup? Grab every pillow in the house and create your own cozy corner. Remember - high-performance people need high-performance rest!

Design Your Own Retreat Day
Block out a full day in your calendar (yes, a FULL day - you're worth it!). Turn off your phone, clear your schedule and treat yourself like you're at a retreat:

  • Start with a gentle morning practice.

  • Feed yourself beautiful, colorful food.

  • Take a long bath with Epsom salts.

  • Journal about what's weighing you down.

  • Go for a mindful walk in nature.

  • Do absolutely nothing for at least an hour!

Check Your Energy Tanks. I love doing regular check-ins with my four energy tanks:

  • Physical: How's my body feeling? What does it need?

  • Emotional: What feelings am I carrying? What needs to be processed?

  • Mental: What stories am I telling myself? What beliefs need updating?

  • Spiritual: How connected do I feel to myself and my purpose?

Clear Your Space, Clear Your Energy. Your environment has a huge impact on your energy. Take time to:

  • Declutter a drawer or cupboard.

  • Open windows and let fresh air flow.

  • Smudge your space with sage or palo santo.

  • Add things that light you up (flowers, candles, beautiful objects).

Manage Your People Energy. Remember - you're allowed to:

  • Turn your phone off.

  • Say no to social obligations.

  • Limit time with energy vampires.

  • Seek out people who fill your cup.

The key is to make these practices regular habits rather than waiting until you're completely depleted. Small, consistent actions to manage your energy are like making regular deposits in your energy bank account - they add up over time!

If you're sitting there thinking "but I don't have TIME for any of this!" - that's exactly why you need it most. Start small. Even five minutes of conscious breathing or a quick energy scan, while you're in the shower, can make a difference.

Your energy is precious. Guard it fiercely. Nurture it regularly. Watch how your whole life transforms when you do!
