Your Space is Speaking to You
Your surroundings are constantly talking to you!
Every object in your space, every colour on your walls, every piece of furniture you sit on is either adding to or draining your energy. We spend so much time thinking about what we put into our bodies, but we rarely consider what our environments are putting into us.
I discovered this the hard way when I realised my cluttered office was making me feel scattered and my beige bedroom was making me feel flat. Our spaces aren't just backdrops to our lives - they're active participants in our energy experience.
Your environment is like a silent conversation happening all day long. It's either whispering "you've got this" or "this is overwhelming." The good news is you get to control this conversation!
Here's how to make your environment work for your energy:
Do the energy walkthrough. Walk through your spaces with fresh eyes. What makes you feel heavy when you look at it? What lifts your spirits? Your body knows - pay attention to these signals.
Remove the energy drains. That broken picture frame you keep meaning to fix, the pile of papers that's been there for months, the clothes that don't fit anymore - they're all sending subtle messages of incompleteness that drain your energy.
Add intentional joy. Put things in your space that make you smile when you see them. Photos that bring back great memories, colours that energise you, textures that feel good to touch. Your space should celebrate you!
Create energy zones. Designate specific areas for specific energies. A calm corner for unwinding, a bright spot for creative work, a clear surface for making decisions. When your environment supports the energy you need, everything flows better.
Tune into your space regularly. Environments need maintenance just like bodies do. Monthly energy check-ins with your spaces keep them working for you rather than against you.
The most energised people I know are intentional about their environments. They understand that investing in their surroundings is investing in their daily energy levels.
Your space should be your ally, not your adversary. It should support your goals, reflect your personality, and make you feel capable and inspired.
This week, pick one area of your environment and give it some energy attention. Notice how different you feel when your surroundings are working with you instead of against you.
What's one change you could make to your environment today that would boost your energy every time you see it?
