What is Spiritual Energy?

Spiritual energy fuels your purpose, self-esteem and intuition. Whether you identify as a spiritual person or not, you are a soul on a mission. You are here to learn, experience and grow through some lessons.

In my world view, your soul has many missions. It lives many lives. Each life is loaded with opportunities to grow and learn. I believe that our soul picks a body, a family and the circumstances that it needs to learn what it needs or wants to learn.

I love the idea that we choose our lives. I believe that each of us has a soul contract, that our soul chooses our families, our bodies, our lessons, and how and when it will die. It has a plan. Believing this helps me to trust, to relax and surrender to the fact that I do not need to know everything because there is a divine plan. It also helps me to be more accepting.

I was working with a woman last year and we were talking about children. I made a comment that ‘our children choose us’ and she got very annoyed! ‘I hate that theory!’ she said. ‘It makes me so angry when people say shit like that! It makes no sense. Why would a child choose terrible parents, dysfunctional people and potentially a shitty life?’ ‘Because that’s what the child’s soul needed to learn,’ I replied. (I went on to say, ‘in my world view’. I always start with that because this is my worldview. I do not expect anyone to agree with me or take on my beliefs. I hope that they might help and offer a different way of thinking for someone but I am a huge fan of the power of freedom and believe that everyone has the ability to choose their beliefs.)

So, ‘In my world view,’ I continued, ‘we are all souls who get the magnificent opportunity to take a trip to “life school” – a place where we get to experience a human body. Living in a body that allows us to experience emotions and feelings and, ultimately, to learn. At the end of our life, we return to the spirit world, do a life reconciliation, and then choose another mission and return to learn that.'

I am able to believe that my master plan is designed with my best interests at heart which makes it easy for me to believe that everything happens "for me" rather than "to me".

Believing that ‘no soul dies without its permission’ has helped me to be incredibly comfortable with death. Even when death seems tragic, I am comforted by the fact that there is a bigger lesson at play. I believe that there is always a plan. The shitty bit is that we do not know what the plan is. That is the wrestle of being human – of trying to make sense of things that don’t. This is where faith comes in. Faith is complete trust or confidence in something. Belief can give you this. Useful beliefs give you certainty even when things feel uncertain.

What is a reoccurring theme in your life that you seem to be forced to focus on?
