The Art of Energy Maintenance

Nobody talks about energy maintenance and that's a problem!

We're obsessed with energy boosts, energy hacks, and energy fixes. Coffee for instant alertness, energy drinks for quick power, supplements for immediate vitality. But what about maintaining the energy you already have?

Think of your energy like a car. You can put premium petrol in it, but if you never change the oil, check the tyres, or service the engine, it's going to break down eventually. The same goes for your energy system.

Most people are running on fumes without realising it because they've never learned proper energy maintenance. They're constantly seeking the next energy hit instead of taking care of their existing energy infrastructure.

Here's how to become an energy maintenance expert:

  1. Schedule regular energy check-ups. Just like you wouldn't skip your car's WOF, don't skip checking in with your energy levels. Weekly assessments help you catch problems before they become crises

  2. Identify your energy warning signs. Your body gives you signals before major energy breakdowns. Maybe you start craving sugar, feeling irritable, or getting sick more often. Learn your personal early warning system.

  3. Create preventative energy habits. Small daily practices prevent major energy problems. Ten minutes of morning sunshine, regular meal times, staying hydrated - these aren't glamorous, but they're essential.

  4. Know when to call in the professionals. Sometimes you need expert help with your energy maintenance. A doctor for physical issues, a counsellor for emotional blockages, or a coach for life direction. Don't try to fix everything yourself.

  5. Keep an energy maintenance kit. Have tools ready for common energy issues. I love homeopathy to support the beginnings of colds (Weleda Cold & Flu Pillues). Nux Vomica is an excellent remedy for any form of excessive consumption (hangovers or over eatting!) and Arnica for shock or stressful situations. Activated Charcoal capsules are my go to soothe tummy upsets. Peppermint Oil for a quick brain pick me up and Lavendar Oil for instant relaxation. Packets of nuts for blood sugar dips.

Energy maintenance isn't exciting, but it's the difference between sustainable vitality and constant energy emergencies. The people who seem to have endless energy aren't necessarily more energetic. They're just better at maintaining what they have.

This week, ask yourself: what energy maintenance have you been neglecting? What small daily practice could prevent bigger energy problems down the track?
