Overthinking

How many times have you had a strong gut feeling about something - a business decision, a relationship, a creative direction - only to talk yourself out of it?

You gather more information. You make more lists. You consult more people. And eventually, that clear internal voice gets drowned out by noise.

Meanwhile, the opportunity moves on. The moment passes. And months later, you think: "I knew it. I felt it from the beginning."

The problem isn't that you didn't have the right instinct. The problem is that you didn't honour it with action.

Action is the bridge between knowing and becoming. Your intuition gives you the signal. Action is what transforms that signal into reality.

Every major shift in your life probably started with a feeling. A 'knowing' that something needed to change. That quiet but persistent voice saying, "This is your next move."

But intuition without action is just a nice idea. It's potential energy with nowhere to go. When you combine intuitive knowing with decisive action, you create momentum. You step into alignment. You stop waiting for permission from the outside world and start trusting the intelligence within you.

I think there are three things that hold us back:

1. Fear of being wrong.

What if your gut feeling leads you astray? What if you make a mistake? Here's the truth: You will make mistakes. But you'll make bigger mistakes by ignoring yourself repeatedly, by choosing safety over truth, by dimming your own inner light because someone else might not understand it.

2. Seeking external validation.

We've been conditioned to look outside ourselves for answers. To wait for experts, mentors, or data to confirm what we already know. But no one else lives your life. No one else carries your unique combination of experiences, values, and vision.

3. Overthinking disguised as preparation.

Sometimes we convince ourselves we're being thorough when we're actually avoiding. We're gathering information not to make a better decision, but to delay making any decision at all.

Four ways to strengthen your intuitive action muscle:

1. Create space for quiet.
Intuition speaks in whispers, not shouts. If your life is constant noise - notifications, obligations, other people's voices - you'll never hear your own. Build in moments of stillness. Morning walks. Journaling. Meditation. Whatever creates space for you to listen.

2. Notice your body's signals.
Your body knows before your mind catches up. Pay attention to the expansion you feel when something is right - the energy, the excitement, the sense of opening. Notice the contraction when something is off - the tension, the dread, the heaviness. Your body is constantly giving you feedback.

3. Take small intuitive actions.
You don't need to make massive leaps to trust your gut. Start small. Choose the restaurant your instinct guides you to. Send the message you've been thinking about. Sign up for the workshop that keeps appearing. Each small intuitive action builds your confidence in the bigger ones.

4. Reflect on past intuitive wins.
Look back at the times you trusted your gut and it worked out. That job you took that everyone questioned. That friendship you pursued. That pivot you made. Remind yourself: You have a track record of knowing.

The most liberating thing is that your action doesn't need to be perfect. You don't need to have the whole staircase mapped out. You just need to take the first step. And then the next one reveals itself. When you trust your intuition and back it with action, you enter a flow state. Things start to click. Opportunities appear. The right people show up. Not because the universe is magical (though I am pretty sure that it is!), but because you're finally moving in alignment with your truth.

Your intuition is not there to be questioned, analysed, and second-guessed into oblivion. It's there to be trusted. To be honoured. To be followed.

The world doesn't need more people sitting on the sidelines, waiting for perfect clarity. It needs people who hear the whisper and have the courage to move. Who trust themselves enough to take action even when they can't explain every reason why.

So here's your invitation: What's the one thing your intuition has been telling you lately?

What action - however small - could you take today to honour that knowing?

Trust yourself. Take action. Watch what unfolds.
